Crushed Olive Ministries is an apologetic ministry that is devoted to educating, strengthening, and empowering women and youth in the Christian faith. In 2019 I learned that 70% of self-professing Christians walk away from their faith their first year away from home. As a mother of three teenagers at the time, this broke my heart. I came to the conclusion that although the church as a whole was doing a great job of teaching what we believe as Christians they lacked teaching the why we believe, and our young people not being prepared to defend the why became overwhelmed and walked away. Crushed Olive Ministries was established for two reasons, one to teach women and mothers the why so they can share it with their children. Two it teaches youth to have confidence in the reason for their faith. This is accomplished by not only teaching the what Christians believe, but the why we believe it.
About Vedel Hoey
Vedel Hoey is a wife of 25 years to her best friend Chris and a mother to three amazing children who are now adults. She loves spending time with family, traveling, watching baseball games, reading, music, and watching Jeopardy. She has been a nurse since 2002 and worked in all different aspects of nursing which includes med-surg, to forensics, and even taught as an adjunct instructor at two of the local colleges for nursing. In all her experience her passion was working in the emergency room for two different level two trauma centers in Southern Colorado for a total of ten years. In 2014 she was involved in a car accident and sustained a traumatic back injury that resulted in surgery and the end to her nursing career several years later. Devastated at the loss of mobility, career and identity, God was working. God called her into ministry. Enrolling in Liberty University Vedel obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in apologetics in 2022. Vedel has a passion to educate women and youth in apologetics with a unique blend of bringing science and faith together. She has taught Bible studies, Women's Christmas events, devotionals, women's retreats, and seminars. She has been a mentor for youth and marriage mentorship programs. Vedel continues to help serve in Women's Ministry at her church.
